Injury update...

Well...for those of you that don't know, here's the full story from my last blog where I left you with this statement..."Anyway it has resulted in a very swollen knee and a few days on crutches! (time to blog)"
Saturday 28th October
After seeing the A+E Doctor on Saturday, she said there was no ligament damage and it would just be a few days off my feet! I even got a leaflet saying in a few days I would be back to sport. They weren't even going to give me crutches even though I explained severeral times that I could not put any weight on my leg. I only managed to get crutches because I knew a nurse there! So off I hobbled!
Wednesday 1st November
On Wednesday I decided to get an appointment with my GP just to check it was ok as I had been trying to walk on it but it was still very painful, also any physio I should do. Anyway he checked it out and was a bit concerned that I may have fractured my Tibia Plateau. (Broken leg!) He said to go to back to A&E to get it x-rayed. So back we went and awaited the results. The look on the nurse's face when they saw the x-ray said it all! I had indeed broken my leg! a Tibia Plateau Fracture. They were very concerned that I didn't put any more weight on it!
So my leg was put in a splint and was told I needed an op! I was aloud to go home that night but had to be back on ward for 7:30am to see the specialists.
Waiting for the good news...

Thursday 2nd November
Back on the ward the specialist came round about 9am and was not sure how to repair the damaged due to the awkward position under the knee. So he booked me in for a CT Scan, this would give a clearer picture. At 1pm I had the scan and then 2:30pm they came for me to do the op! The op lasted about 3hours and the Morphine sure did the trick! When I woke up I discovered they had taken bone from my hip and grafted it into my leg and covered it with a metal plate and screwed it in place!
So there we have it....6 weeks with the brace on and a further 6 weeks with no weight on it...12 weeks off work!?!?!?!
