A Footballing Prayer...

God of all Nations,
May we be blessed with the gifts of a footballing team.
As goalkeepers may we keep out the fierce shots of prejudice, racism and greed, saving others from the penalties of poverty and disease.
Working together as a strong back four, may we defend the goal of fullness of life for the oppressed and vulnerable.
Grant us the versatility and stamina of midfielders that we may go wherever we are needed to support those in trouble.
Give us the creativity and vision of wingers, providing passes of encouragement to those who can make fairer laws and crosses of hope to those in despair.
When we are strikers, may integrity, justice and compassion be the goals we should score.
And when we are on the subs bench, keep us faithful, cheering on others and inspiring them with fresh belief and energy when we are called to put on our boots.
God of all our hopes and all our excitement may this World Cup see new frienships made, old hatreds dismantled and the richness and diversity of life celebrated by all people whatever the colour of there shirt.
And may the best team win!
Amen.

The Foo's

What a crazy weekend seeing the Foo Fighters in Hyde Park! It was a hot one so we had to start it with a Magners on ice!

Then it was off to the Park. The show kick off at 4pm with The Subways (who we missed) then Angels and Airways who are the lead singer of Blink 182 new band. They sounded the same as Blink! Next up were The Queens of the Stone age, didn't know much of there stuff but they were very good. Next we made our way to the front, well, the front of 'Genral Admission' ticket area! As you can see from the pic we were so far back because of the huge area for Golden Circle!
Next up was Motorhead! For old boys they still had it and as you would guess the crowd went mad for 'the ace of spades'!! During all of this outbreaks of 'moshing' was going on! We were getting more and more crammed in too, to the point you could not move your arms at all! Then the Foo's came on and things went crazy! I managed to survive about 5 songs before crowd surfing out!! It was great! Age 31 and my first crowd surf! I ended up getting a better view anyway!
I'll leave you with some other pics of the night. Oh, also, we had a great surprise when Roger Taylor and Brian May came out to play 'we will rock you' and 'Tie your mother down'!!!! twas a special moment!

We also finished the weekend with some Aircraft spotting at a top secret spotting site at stansted airport!
